Let Your Child Take The Food Allergy Skin Test.

It seems normal that children who are very active get cuts, bruises, wounds, and even rashes all the time but how can you be so sure that it is not a food allergy skin rash? One of the things you should consider that your child might be allergic is the family health history of you and your spouse. Some food allergy skin rash may be derived from genetics so if you or your spouse have allergies, there’s a good chances that your children might have them too.

In our case, I have always been allergic to protein sourced from meat and my wife, on the other hand, is allergic to eggs and chicken. Our eldest son Eric is not allergic to any type of food but when George came, he showed signs of hives when he ate meat at one of his friends’ birthday party.

As a precaution, we brought him to an allergist for an allergy skin test. We didn’t want to take any chances regarding his health and safety so we did what we had to do. While waiting for the result, I was reading a book called “Hive: The Road to Diagnosis and Treatment of Urticaria” in the clinic’s reception area and I thought that the book was really informative. If we were to raise George with severe food allergies, we just got to have a copy of the book.

The test results showed that George’s hives are caused by meat products and the allergist advised us to consult a nutritionist for designing George’s meals without worrying about any gap in his daily nutritional intake. The causes of skin allergy in my youngest son will totally make things turn around in our home.

I know I had to make things work if George’s condition will affect us all. While my wife was grocery shopping for the ingredients needed in our kitchen, I decided to check out the nearest bookstore. I found the book I was aiming for and bought it right away. While waiting for my wife to finish, I was skimming and scanning through the book finding as many information I needed to adjust to George’s condition.

It has really answered all of my questions including some of the questions regarding my own allergies since I was little. The book also featured a workbook that Dr. Alan Wanderer, the author, designed in order to guide you during the process of skin allergy treatment.

When I have finished the workbook for George’s condition, I brought it to our family doctor and had him look at it. He then recommended his good doctor friend who has been in the industry of treating skin allergy symptoms. Because of Dr. Alan’s unique workbook specially made for acute and chronic hive sufferers, we were able to address my son’s condition earlier, allowing him to enjoy life better, something that my wife and I have missed while growing up.

But nevertheless, my wife and I also complete filling out our own workbooks especially when the food allergy skin symptoms begin to erupt. We are aiming to rid ourselves from the burden of hives or urticaria for good, something our whole family is about to enjoy in the years to come.

Due to the contact of the components of these products with skin conditions often occur as dermatitis, eczema or inflammation, which is exacerbated when there is damage or excessive dryness.

Other causes of such skin problems are related to specific body processes such as stress, hormonal changes, environmental pollution, weather changes, alcohol and snuff, aging, strict diets and insufficient rest.

Now it is sad to leave these products if we like, so we must find alternatives and carefully follow some guidelines:

- Do not use cosmetics on which you have no references.

- Consultation with a specialist about the products they should buy and keep up with its components.

- Do not be misled by the packaging, colors, appealing aroma, or advertising.

- Use hypoallergenic, ie containing no detergents, perfumes, colorings or preservatives irritants. Today the market offers a great variety.

- Pay special attention to products for infants or children because their skin is extremely delicate and does not yet have the necessary defenses to counteract negative effects.

- At the slightest sign of allergy in the skin or scalp, immediately suspended the use of the product. And if the reaction persists, consult a dermatologist or an allergist.

What is clear is that whenever an allergic reaction occurs because you have previously existed, at some point, exposure to one of the many allergens that exist. Once it has started reaction allergic, the immune system very sensitive to certain substances, wrongly believed that the body is being attacked by them, when in reality, harmless substances are not harmful at all. However, in this alert, the immune system begins to release eosinophils and IgE, as well as other types of cells, called antibodies, to address the alleged invasion, usually infectious viruses and bacteria, which believes it is occurring at the time. All this translates into our external body inflammation levels more or less weight and discomfort of some magnitude.

Reactions in general are usually not too important, although dependent on many factors in our environment. These irritations are often hives, swelling, rashes and itching, but sometimes can also create some danger, especially in cases where there are breathing problems or blood pressure falls.

Experts generally agree that the best way to treat allergic reactions is prevention, that is, try to stay away from allergens to know. In this way, able to avoid the unpleasant symptoms and irritations that cause allergies each year in much of the population.

Water is an essential element in human life: the existence of oceans, seas and rivers makes it possible to live on earth. In fact, water is the most important component of the human body, constituting two thirds of it.

However, those who suffer from this rare condition have an allergic reaction every time your body comes into contact with water. While not produce skin lesions in other types of allergies, allergy to water causes itching mainly in some cases causes ringworm, a skin disorder. Can you imagine what happened to you that every time you take a shower?

The severity of allergy to water depends on the temperature at which it is found, although usually minimal contact with the body causes a reaction. Itching also varies depending on the sensitivity of the skin of the person, which can last from minutes to a couple of hours.

Still not sure what is causing the allergy to water. Experts say it may be due to an extreme sensitivity in the skin or other diseases such as polycythemia vera, or juvenile xanthogranuloma youthful skin disease, hypereosinophilic syndrome or myelodysplastic syndrome.

What can water allergic to treat your allergies? As it is impossible to live without water, have developed some special creams or oil based gel to be applied before contact with water. These help to those allergic to relieve itching and discomfort. Often the allergy is caused by minerals added to the water, so also have water purification filters in homes can be a solution.

On the other hand, must wear cotton clothes and towels and care in the diet, avoiding fried foods and spicy foods, alcohol and coffee, as they aggravate allergies.

A topical solution with a component of cannabis, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), reduces allergic skin reactions in an experimental model, according to a study by researchers at the University of Bonn (Germany) published in the journal Science. According to investigators, an ointment may be applied in the treatment of human skin diseases without the toxic effects possessing cannabis because they include a very small dose of THC. The study’s authors explain that endocannabinoids seem to play an important role in regulating inflammatory processes. In popular culture has been traditionally used plant extracts of cannabis as a remedy against inflammation, to the point that in early twentieth-century formulations of this type are found in pharmacies. Due to the intoxicating effects of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the plant ceased to be dispensed in these facilities in the 30′s.

The researchers found that in transgenic animals in which cannabinoid receptors are not allergic reactions usually occur in the skin are much more intense. This type of rash that usually suffer minor, the researchers explain, but there was a similar decline if cannabinoid receptors are blocked by medication. THC acts on cannabinoid receptors in the human brain, of which there are two types, CB1 and CB2. The effects of hashish, cannabis and marijuana in the brain cause a toxic effect. Explains Andreas Zimmer, director of the study and a student of the endocannabinoid system, subjects have no CB1 receptors show psychological abnormalities, yet the CB2 receptor regulates bone growth. The scientists made their discovery to chance and that while conducting experiments on genetically modified animals lacking cannabinoid receptors, the animals applied to a clip in one ear to distinguish them from normal animals. This technique for identifying the animals is common in laboratories and usually does not pose physical problems in them, however, transgenic individuals showed an unusual inflammation around these clips. According to investigators, when inflammation occurs the endocannabinoids prevent the body develops an allergic reaction that can be harmful too. The finding is consistent with the fact that the onset of infection the endocannabinoid concentration increased. The results open a new avenue for the treatment of allergies and skin inflammation in principle with drugs that prevent the breakdown of endocannabinoids that makes the body.

The researchers applied a solution of THC to the skin before and after exposure to an allergen and subsequent inflammation were much lower. THC, the authors of the work, binds to and activates cannabinoid receptors, so the active substance reduces the allergic reaction. According to investigators, an ointment like this would not necessarily have a toxic effect because the amount of THC would be very small.

A person with allergies has increased sensitivity to specific substances also known as allergens. According to the National Institutes of more than fifty million people in the United States suffer from allergies each year. Allergies are the sixth leading cause of chronic disease in the United States.

What are skin allergies?

Some skin allergies are:

Eczema is an allergic skin disorder that often affects the face, elbows and knees. The common symptom is intense itching that can turn into lesions or blisters. Among the most common triggers are allergens, perspiration, and emotional stress, eating certain foods and contact with irritants such as wool, pets, soaps or other substances.

Urticaria is characterized by inflammation of the skin accompanied by redness and itching. The most common cause of hives can be a viral infection, drugs, food or latex. Some people have chronic hives that occurs in reaction to particular circumstances. Scratching, pressure or “nerves” can aggravate urticaria. The best remedy is to remove the provocative factors.

Contact dermatitis is a reaction produced by contact of skin with an allergic substance that can cause redness, swelling, or itching of the skin. Poison ivy is the most common cause. Other plants, metals, cosmetics and medicines also cause a reaction. Allergic dermatitis can be treated by wiping the skin with soap and water after contact with an allergic substance

What are the symptoms of allergies?

The most common symptoms of allergies are rhinitis (commonly known as a stuffy nose) or hay fever or pollen. These allergic symptoms can become chronic respiratory conditions such as asthma.

Rhinitis or hay fever or pollen is an inflammation of the mucous membranes that occurs when allergens touch the lining of the nose. Symptoms include sneezing, congestion, runny nose, itchy nose, palate, throat, eyes and ears.

How can I control my allergies?

Common indoor allergens such as cockroach droppings, animal dander, household dust mites and mold can be reduced through the direct action of the landlord or the tenant. Work with a health professional to develop a plan to control their allergies.

This may involve taking medications. It may also mean avoiding or reducing exposure to or ingestion of substances that trigger your allergies.
