Common Causes of Freckles:

It is believed that sun exposure is a common factor in the development of freckles. Freckles will fade when sun exposure is reduced or eliminated.

Light skin is another factor, as there is less melanin in fair skin in general to absorb UV light, the melanin pigment cells occurs at a higher rate. Similarly freckles are influenced by genetic factors.

The fluctuation of hormones can cause freckles since estrogen stimulates the excess pigment-producing cells, causing them to generate excess color when exposed to sunlight.

Simple Remedies for Freckles:

Use a broad spectrum sunscreen every day. Look for products containing zinc oxide, titanium dioxide or Parsol 1789, each of these ingredients block UVA rays of the sun and UVB rays.

Apply bleaching cream. Most OTC products usually contain kojic acid, skin lightening agent or hydroquinone. If you need something stronger, the doctor may prescribe a cream containing hydroquinone 4%.

Consult a dermatologist. You can discuss some laser treatments. The laser energy is absorbed by melanin, which causes freckles to darken off briefly and then after a week or two. Usually only one treatment is required.
