Parabens are one of the most controversial cosmetic ingredients.

What are parabens?
They are a family of ingredients used to prevent cosmetics such as makeup and moisturizers spoilage by bacteria and other contaminants.

The most common are: methylparaben, propylparaben, and butylparaben. The almost always check the bottom of the list of ingredients in most beauty products.

What is your role?
Every time we touch the creams, makeup and other beauty products, or every time we open these contaminated. Parabens prevent bacteria from reproducing and ruining the product which could cause infections and other diseases.

Parabens Controversy
These ingredients are controversial because some people believe that cause cancer. Especially cancers associated with estrogen levels in the body such as breast cancer.

This controversy began with a study that found that cancer cells of breast cancer contain parabens. But the study does not indicate that parabens caused the cancer.

Some say that parabens create imbalance in the levels of estrogen in the body. According to U.S. health authorities this is not possible because the amount of parabens used are very low and the type of estrogen they contain is very weak compared to estrogen in our bodies.

There is no evidence that parabens are harmful to health. But every day there are more products that contain them because the public is very interested in not using them.
