Eczema: Skin Irritation

eczema It is a medical term that refers to various problems affecting mainly the skin scaly process and intense itching, which may manifest injuries, blisters, redness, discoloration, splotches, thickening, oozing and itching among others.

Often eczema diagnosed as dermatitis, but the cause of eczema and dermatitis is different, so it is important to know its origin to treatment.

Apparently, there is a relationship between allergies and eczema, and both conditions are often hereditary and one of the main factors to trigger an outbreak is stress.

Eczema can be divided into two groups according to their demonstrations:

Atopic eczema, which is characterized by scaly lesions, reddish skin and very dry skin occurring mainly in the folds of the arms and legs and other processes usually associated with allergies, asthma, urticaria, allergic rhinitis and others.

Contact eczema, characterized by the appearance of scaly plaques on the skin surface due to skin irritation by substances that are toxic to the sick person or by an allergy to certain substances that come into contact with skin.

Although the mechanisms involved in each of the different types of eczema are there in each of them an alteration in white blood cells, which facilitates an abnormal immune reaction to foreign substances to the individual.

Eczema can affect people of any age, but some types more common during certain stages of life. Among the main types are:

Children have atopic eczema, which usually affects infants, children and adolescents and occurs on the scalp, face and in the case of babies in the diaper area.

The Nummular or discoid type most often occurs in adults and has the characteristic views known “patches” red and shaped discs that can swell and cause blisters or crusts, often oozing or thicken.

Steatotic eczema, which is affects older people, manifested by dryness and scaling of the skin.

Eczema has manifestations that may be confused with other skin diseases; however, lesions are characteristic features of different types.

Signs and symptoms of eczema include:
Plates in different parts of red, scaly skin.
Intense itching.
Swelling in the affected area.
Vesicles with pus may occur.
